Much howling at the moon is forecast for Friday night, August 22nd, in La Vergne. Registration has opened for the annual Howl at the Moon 5K Run, sponsored by the La Vergne Parks & Recreation Department. The annual event starts at 8:00 o'clock at Veterans Memorial Park.

The entry fee is $25 for pre-registration (due Tuesday, August 19) and $30 the day of race.

"Howl at the Moon is scheduled every year so that our runners can compete in the 5k race under a full moon," said A.C. Davis, Director of Parks and Recreation. "Runners are eligible for some very nice door prize drawings, we give tshirts to the first 150 entries, and the proceeds are all used toward parks programs planned for children."

There are 12 age divisions ranging from young runners under 13 years old to senior citizens ages 65 and up. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each category.
