The Live 4 Tay Foundation will host its 5th Annual Play 4 Tay Benefit Softball Tournament on September 6th and 7th in Murfreesboro, TN. This year, in addition to playing at SportsCom's StarPlex and McKnight fields, teams will also be playing on the fields at Barfield Park. The Live 4 Tay Foundation currently has 76 teams from Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia committed to play.

A tournament that began 5 years ago with about 12 teams to support the Filorimo family and help them with their medical expenses for their daughter Taylor who had just been diagnosed with a form of kidney cancer, has grown with the support of the local residents and the softball community to be able to support many families who have children with cancer. Taylor died at the age of 16 in 2012.

Last year the foundation was able to provide direct financial support to 5 families through grants and helped 35 others with gas gift cards, adding up to a total of $8,000. The foundation also gave a combined $3,000 to funds established at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital that offer direct support to families who have children with cancer, and an additional $2,500 was donated to CureSearch for childhood cancer research.

The Foundation has a 2014 goal to double the amount of assistance that they were able to provide last year. As of today, they have been able to help 9 families with grants totaling $11,500!

On September 6th and 7th, you can visit McKnight Fields or Barfield Park softball fields to support a wonderful caus while watching a great softball game. Tickets are $8 daily (Sat and Sun), with a weekend wristband available for just $14, children 10 and under Free.
