A man on a new bicycle that still had the tags on it was seen following a woman down Broad Street on Thursday afternoon. Once he reached Tire World, formerly Southeastern Tire, the subject allegedly assaulted the female stealing her cell phone. Police were on the scene in a matter of seconds after a call to 9-1-1 was made.

Witnesses say she hollered, "I don't know this man," during the assault. The man was able to ride away on the bike with the cell phone in hand before authorities arrived. An ambulance was also on the scene to treat the woman who had a large scratch mark on her arm. The scratch was obtained as she was trying to fight the subject off of her.

Police searched the area for the man on the bike, but witnesses say he got away.
