Mosque Opening Delayed...Construction NOT Finished!

Even a federally ordered temporary restraining order could not get the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro open in time for Ramadan. Contractors says it will take two or more weeks to complete the facility on Veals Road at Bradyville Pike.

Rutherford County did a codes inspection Thursday morning (7/19/2012), and in addition to construction not being complete, there was no water connected. As a result the sprinkler system and restroom facilities were not operable.

Officials say that record breaking temperatures and draught have delayed construction.

Members of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro hope to be in their new mosque before Ramadan ends on August 18th.
