A 44-year old homeless man in Murfreesboro allegedly purchased an Air-Soft gun and told a relative that he wanted to commit suicide by cop. The report stated, "[The suspect] said he wanted to go out like the Antioch shooter and today was the day."

When police spoke with the individual, he did not admit to suggesting he wanted to die in the same fashion as the mentally ill subject who was shot at the Antioch movie theater. However, he did admit to having suicidal thoughts. The incident unfolded at the Thornton's gas station on Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro.

The man was taken to St. Thomas Medical Center in Murfreesboro for a mental evaluation.
