Playing golf to help families who have children with cancer

The Live 4 Tay foundation will be hosting their 5th annual Play 4 Tay benefit golf tournament at Cedar Crest Golf Course in Murfreesboro. Proceeds from the event will help the foundation provide financial assistance grants to families who have children with cancer.

Live 4 Tay started after 16-year-old Taylor Filorimo died in 2012 from a rare form of cancer. The former Riverdale High School teen is remembered thanks to volunteers with the Live 4 Tay foundation. Taylor had renal cell carcinoma.

Childhood cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease among children. 43 children a day in the United States are diagnosed with cancer at an average age of 6 years old. Many families in our local area need the support of groups like Live 4 Tay to help stay in their homes, or simply have gas to get back and forth to treatment for their child, just so that one parent can stay with the child while the other tries to work.
