Retire your torn or weathered American Flag at the Healing Field

  Email   Print

When an American flag becomes worn, faded, torn or soiled, it should be retired and replaced with a new flag.

Mike Benzy with Boy Scout Troop 538 told WGNS that they will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony at the Healing Field event outside of First United Methodist Church on Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro. Anyone who would like to retire a flag of their own is welcome to observe the ceremony, then retire their own flag afterwards. Or, if you have a flag to retire and do not wish to participate, the Scouts will gladly retire the flag for you.

The Saint Rose Catholic Church based Troop will be at the site of this years Healing Field at 4:30pm on Saturday (May 28, 2016) to receive flags and fold them properly for retirement.
