A car burglary that occurred Wednesday night or early Thursday morning had a positive outcome. The burglary occurred outside of the Vista Inn off of South Church Street in Murfreesboro.

According to a police report, the thief stole a backpack containing a Turkish passport, sunglasses, a laptop computer and clothing. Hours after the report was filed, the victim told police that someone brought him the backpack back.

In a bizarre twist, the person who tracked down the owner of the backpack reportedly told the victim that he bought the backpack for $100 from a homeless person. Without asking any questions, the victim quickly accepted and looked through his backpack where he found his stuff along with a cell phone that was not his. Police collected the cell phone and believe it was stolen about four days before this most recent theft.

At this point, police do not know who the Good Samaratin is who claims he bought the backpack, nor do they know who stole it to begin with.
