A "Free" Ride Home if You Had Too Much To Drink in Rutherford County - No Strings Attached

Here is an interesting little tid-bit that could actually involve you this Christmas or New Year's. One in three (36%) consumers always use a designated driver after drinking, yet one in five (20%) reported that they rarely or never use one, according to a AAA Consumer Pulse™ survey. Even more interesting, of those who DID receive a sober ride home from a party, 34% failed to "Thank" their designated driver after getting the ride home.

To help make sure everyone has a safe ride home, AAA and Bud Light will offer the Tow to Go program for the holidays. The program is designed to help discourage an intoxicated driver from getting behind the wheel. Anyone, AAA member or not, can call for a Tow to Go ride, December 20 – January 1. A tow truck will pick you and your car up anywhere in the Rutherford County area. The program is 100% free.

“Around Christmas and New Year’s Eve, calls for Tow to Go have historically spiked,” said Gerry Gutowski, Sr. Vice President, Automotive Services, The Auto Club Group. “AAA has always played a critical role each holiday weekend by protecting motorists on our roadways, however, it is everyone’s responsibility to make good decisions and always choose a designated driver if you have been drinking.”

Key Portions of the Program:

  • Confidential local ride within a 10-mile radius to a safe location
  • Service is provided in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee
  • Free and available to both AAA members and non-members
  • The AAA tow truck takes the vehicle and the driver home
