Suspicious movement and a revealing bulge got the attention of Murfreesboro Police on Thursday, which landed an alleged Crips gang member behind bars for a short time until bond was made.

Officer Reginald Primas was driving down University Street when he noticed 18-year old Jaques T. Windrow walking with one arm swinging and the other arm tightly held at his side. Officer Primas further noted in a report, "There appeared to be a bulge on the right side of the subject underneath his shirt." Without further ado, the police officer moved in for a closer look and a brief conversation.

During his conversation, the officer informed Windrow about the suspicious things that he noticed and then performed a pat down. When the officer patted down Windrow he found a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun tucked into the waistband of Windrows pants. The gun was on the same side that his arm was hanging straight. A bag of marijuana was then found in the crotch of Windrows pants.

To make matters worse for Windrow, he was within 1,000 feet of Holloway High School, Bradley Academy, Murfreesboro City Preschool, Wee Care Day Care and Central Magnet School. In Tennessee, those areas and any area within 1,000 feet of a school is considered a "Drug Free Zone" under state law. The law allows for stiffer penalties for violations within such a zone. The additional punishment, if found guilty, allows for stiffer fines and extended jail time.

As the conversation between the officer and suspect continued, Windrow advised that he was a member of the "9 Trey" Crip gang and he was carrying the loaded gun for protection. Some reports indicate the original Crips gang that started in California with 18-people has grown worldwide with a membership of 500,000 or more today.

Windrow was charged with "Felony possession of a Schedule Six Drug" and "Possession of a weapon during a felony." Police also confiscated his cell phone and are obtaining a warrant to search the phone for drug or gang related information.

After being booked on the felony charges, Windrow made bond and was released about three hours later. He appear in court on September 8, 2015.
