GREEN TIMES: Man Flees Retail Outlet with a Bong, Grinder and a Scale

Aug 06, 2013 at 03:29 pm by Bryan Barrett

Local radio stations and newspapers report stories about thefts on a daily basis, but usually the thefts do not involve items like bongs and grinders. In Tennessee it is fully legal for retail stores to sell bongs, as long as the bongs are not sitting in a case next to a picture of an illegal drug item. It is also legal for a store to sell small digital scales, which are commonly used by drug dealers to weigh narcotics.

Here is where the theft report comes into play… a worker at a beer and tobacco store on Lascassas Pike in Murfreesboro called the police after an unknown subject entered the store, helped himself to a bong, a grinder and a scale and then fled the area in a car. The man was not able to flee before another worker at the store was able to write down the suspects license plate number.

Police went to the address of where the license plate was registered, but turned up empty handed. So far an arrest has not been made.
