A case that got underway in 2009 involving a suspect by the name of Matthew Whitehair in Murfreesboro was closed with a guilty verdict by jurors in August and now the case will go back to the courts for sentencing on Friday (October 4, 2013).

You may recall Whitehair was indicted by a Grand Jury in 2010 on three counts of rape of a child, two counts of rape, eight counts of incest, three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, and one count of sexual battery by an authority figure.

The investigation started from a call to the Department of Children Services in 2009 suggesting that Whitehair had an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Detective Tommy Roberts and Detective Wayne Lawson investigated the case. In 2010, the Murfreesboro Post reported that the victims ranged in age from 11 to 15-years old.

In August, 40-year old Whitehair was found guilty on two counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of sexual battery, statutory rape by an authority figure, incest, five counts of attempted incest and sexual battery by an authority figure. He will be sentenced for those convictions on Friday.
