Murfreesboro Police were busy keeping the peace Saturday morning during the Middle Half Marathon. A packed day of events attracts protesters in search of an audience.
Along the course a small organized group with signs started protesting illegal aliens and how they take jobs away from Southern whites. A spontaneous, and much larger crowd assembled near them to voice their opinion that the majority is not prejudiced. Obviously, different views can spawn problems. A witness told WGNS News that Murfreesboro Police officers did a great job of keeping space between the two groups.
There were certainly many things to do in the 'Boro while all of this was going on. Near the Marathon and this incident was the Sarturday Market with a packed crowd on the square. A few blocks in the other direction was the 10th Annual Rutherford County Heritage Day at Bradley Academy.
