Murfreesboro Property Taxes Due Today

Today (December 31, 2013) is the final day Murfreesboro property owners have to pay city taxes without receiving a penalty. Assistant City Manager Jim Crumley told WGNS listeners that they can bring their checks by city hall at 111 West Vine Street today or mail the checks today so that it has the December 31st postmark. 

Penalty for late payment begins accruing January 1st at the rate of 1.5% per month, or any portion of a month, applied to the base tax.

Crumley reminded residents that the property tax rate for the City of Murfreesboro is $1.2703 per $100 of assessed value. If a property owner has questions regarding his of her assessment or needs to correct the mailing address, they should contact the Rutherford County Property Tax Assessor’s office at 615-898-7750.

Last Day for County Taxes February 28th

Since all city landowners are also Rutherford County residents, county taxes are payable through the last day of February without penalty and interest charges.
