As warmer weather sweeps through middle Tennessee, local runners and walkers are hitting the pavement for a special cause. Only days after the start of spring, the third Annual Special Kids Race presented by Murfreesboro Medical Clinic will welcome 3,000 participants on Saturday, March 22.

Runners have the option of choosing between the race’s 15K, 5K, and 1 Mile distances starting at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC) on Garrison Drive in Murfreesboro. Race participants each receive a soft-tech running shirt, race medal, and goodie bag with giveaways from sponsors.

“Warmer weather is well on its way,” said Charlie Apigian, Special Kids Race Director. “And the next few weeks are just the right amount of time to get outside and train for the 5K race.”

The 2013 Special Kids Race sold out two weeks prior to the event after reaching its 3,000 person cap and raising over $175,000 for the organization.  All race expenses have again been covered by sponsors in 2014, allowing all funds from registration fees to directly benefit children with special needs at Special Kids.

Registration Information:

Race fees are $45 for the 15K, $40 for the 5K, and $20 for the 1 Mile Fun Run. Registration is currently open online at specialkidsrace.org.

The Special Kids Race is presented by its founding sponsor Murfreesboro Medical Clinic. Gold level sponsors include Max Shred, St. Thomas Rutherford, A Step Ahead, Try Boro Kids Race Series, Stewart’s Special Events, Newk’s Eatery, Shane McFarland Construction, Ole South, and Walker & Dunlop.
