A short meeting of the Murfreesboro City Council, Thursday, July 28th.  Mayor Bragg thanked everyone who attended the Bicenntenial planning meeting, and as for that new city law which imposed fines for unruly lawns, it is possible to get out of it, but it'll come at a cost; over $200.  The city successfully petitioned TDOT for installation of a traffic signal at North Thompson Lane and Sulphur Springs Road, a new pickup truck was purchased for use by the Old Fort Golf Course, the Chief of Police accepted a contract with Northwestern University to provide a Police Staff and Command training school for students wishing to enter the law enforcement field.  Finally, councilwoman Scales-Harris urged the group to vote down rezoning property along Memorial Blvd. at Kings Ridge Drive to a Highway Commercial District, after negative public response.  Being that there was no public hearing, no residents were present to personally protest the matter, and the rezoning was ultimately passed through.
