Rutherford County may have to completely stop using the landfill by 2025

The days are numbered for the Middle Point Landfill in the Walter Hill area. Mac Nolen, Director of Solid Waste, told WGNS the life expectancy of the landfill is between 10 and 12 more years.

Each year, one million cubic yards of waste is placed into the Middle Point Landfill. If the population growth continues as expected, the county will need to find a new place to dump trash by 2025. The new home for our trash will likely new in another county.
