Rutherford County sheriff’s deputies quickly nabbed two suspects accused of stealing more than $1,100 from disabled veterans living at a home Saturday on Murfreesboro Street. Sheriff Robert F. Arnold says Deputy Nick Coble located two suspects just moments after they allegedly stole $1,180 cash from Hyatt VA Home veterans Saturday afternoon off Old Woodbury Highway. Deputy Matthew Powell responded to the Hyatt VA Home where the caregiver, who is the mother of one of the suspects, reported the suspects did not have permission to be on the property. She told Powell she kept money for three veterans in a bank bag in the home. Witnesses gave a description of the suspects whom Coble stopped on East Main Street near Rutherford Boulevard. Coble and Arnold took the suspects into custody. While searching the vehicle, he located a white money bag on the floorboard and more cash stuffed under the passenger seat. Suspects Keith Fuller, 42, and John M. Heasley, 33, both of 2025 S. Church St., were taken to Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where Detective Scott Tillman charged the pair with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000. They were booked into the detention center. A hearing is set Oct. 11 in General Sessions Court. Tillman returned the cash to the caregiver.
