Long-time convict Darrell Wayne Lambert pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated robbery of Lascassas Drug Store and was sentenced to 15 years at 85 percent.

Lambert, 34, of North Lamar Road, will serve a sentence to at least 2025.

He has been booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention 23 times since March 26, 2000. Those arrests included prior aggravated robberies in September 2000 and September 2007 and a robbery in 2009. He has spent more than 2,600 days in the detention center over the past 16 years.

On Feb. 5, Lambert robbed the Lascassas Drug Store of a large quantity of prescription medications. He fired a shotgun into the store's ceiling of during the robbery then fled.

His car was spotted almost immediately by Deputy Nick Coble and a long pursuit began that ended many miles away on Rockdale Fellowship Road. Lambert lost control of his car after it was spiked twice by Sgt. Bryant Gregory and Lt. Kenny Barrett using the Stinger system.

Deputies involved in the pursuit also included Amanda McPherson, Steven Harrison, Moses Mosby, and Sgt. Lee Young. Deputy Rick Emslie preserved the crime scene at the drug store until lead Detective Jason Dowdle and crime scene Detective Richard Brinkley arrived. Other detectives involved in the case included Capt. David Hailey, Lt. Todd Sparks and Detectives Kyle Norrod and Steve Kohler.

Sheriff Robert Arnold commended all the officers who contributed to apprehending Lambert and investigating the case.

"Thanks to the great work of lead Detective Jason Dowdle and many other members of the Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol Division, Lambert will serve at least 10 years in prison," Sheriff Arnold said. "All officers involved in this case deserve recognition for removing this dangerous criminal from our community."
