Rutherford County Schools CLOSED Monday, M'boro City OPEN ON TIME

Jan 08, 2017 at 05:49 pm by Bryan Barrett

Rutherford County Schools must remain closed Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, because of ongoing road conditions in several rural areas of the county.

Spokesman James Evans says their transportation department has driven bus routes today and been in contact with the sheriff's office about road conditions, and the sheriff's office has named numerous rural roads that are still considered dangerous.

He says additionally, temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing before 11 a.m Monday.

Based on these factors, Rutherford County Schools will remain closed Monday. Evans says this is to ensure the safety of student drivers and those on school buses.

Murfreesboro City Schools have decided to open for classes on time since roads in the city are no longer hazardous.
