Gun Stolen 43 Years Ago Recovered in Murfreesboro

A gun that was reported as stolen over 40 years ago in 1974 has turned up, thanks to the fast work of Bullseye Gun Shop in Murfreesboro.

Evidently, a man came into the store off of South Church Street attempting to trade the gun in. When a TBI check was conducted on the weapon, it came back as being stolen in 1974.

As it turns out, the shotgun had been purchased by the man trying to trade it in from his neighbor. That neighbor is a retired New York City Police Officer, who was just as shocked about the weapon being listed as stolen as the man who tried trading it in. Evidently, the former police officer previously bought the gun from another man. In fact, the shotgun likely changed hands multiple times since '74 without ever being checked for being stolen.

The gun is now in the Murfreesboro Police evidence room. It was traced as being stolen in Nashville, but no word on if the original owner from 43 years ago is still alive.

What kind of shotgun?

The stolen gun was a Revelations Blue Steel Model R310. The gun was once sold at Western Auto in the early 1970's for about $85.
