Harvey Relief in Texas Likely Largest in Salvation Army History

Sep 01, 2017 at 12:03 pm by Bryan Barrett

The Salvation Army has deployed its national network of trained disaster staff and volunteers to the Gulf Coast to provide food, hydration, clean-up kits, hygiene supplies, and emotional and spiritual care to first responders and survivors. It's expected to be the largest relief effort in the organization's history.

Of that group, Major Joe Irvin from the Salvation Army of Rutherford and Cannon County is in Texas for at least a two-week deployment.

Multiple staging centers have been established throughout Texas including Houston, San Antonio, Victoria and Arlington. The Salvation Army does not place an administrative fee on donations for disaster relief efforts. That means 100% of gifts will be used in support of those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
