Tennessee is now part of a growing number of states with what's called the "Purple Paint Law."

It's designed to help property owners and hunters alike. The color indicates trespassers are not allowed, including hunters.

Passed last legislative session by the General Assembly, landowners can now post one "No Trespassing" sign on their property and go throughout the rest of their property, marking it with purple paint.

The paint should be in a hunter's strike zone, which is approximately above the knee and up to chest height.

This is the first hunting season the law is in effect. In Tennessee, trespassing is a Class C misdemeanor, which could result in a 50-dollar fine and / or jail time of up to 30-days.
