Blackburn, Select Panel Members on CA Fetal Tissue Sales

Friday, Representatives Marsha Blackburn (TN-07), Diane Black (TN-06), Mia Love (UT-04), Sean Duffy (WI-07), Vicky Hartzler (MO-04), Larry Bucshon (IN-08), and Andy Harris (MD-01) made the following statement following the admission by two medical companies last Friday that they illegally profited from the sale of fetal tissue.

"As Members of the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, we are heartened to see the news that two fetal tissue brokers engaged in unlawfully selling fetal tissues and cells for profit must pay a $7.8 million settlement and cease business in the state of California. We are glad to hear that the panel's investigative work and recommendations are protecting both women and their unborn children. The recent settlement further exposes the grisly and mercenary business of the buying and selling of body parts of unborn babies. Thankfully, at least in the case of these two companies and their business in the state of California, those practices will not be allowed to continue."
