The chairman of the Senate health committee, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released the following statement on the Administration issuing a proposed rule to expand the availability of short-term, limited-duration health insurance:
The rule, if finalized, would allow consumers to buy plans providing coverage for any period of less than 12 months, rather than the current federal maximum period of less than three months.
