(Murfreesboro) Software Developer Brian Rogers announces that he is running for the Rutherford County Commission in District 13 on August 2nd, according to a press release from the Rutherford County Democratic Party.

Rogers has worked as a software developer for over 20 years and is accustomed to thinking through complex problems and finding solutions. "I really feel that technology has advanced to the point where if you don't stay on top of it, you're left behind quickly." Rogers said. "I want to hear ideas from many different groups and not just assume we know all the answers already from our past experiences. We need to attack the issues of Rutherford County smartly and with an eye towards keeping taxes down and providing maximum value for the cost."

"Although Rutherford County is one of the best places to live in TN, we are facing many issues including overcrowding in schools, big city traffic on small town roads and a landfill that is past due for action. It's wonderful that so many people have chosen to make Rutherford County their home but in order for this growth to be sustainable, we need to make sure that we create an environment that allows all people to succeed. As commissioner, I vow to work on these and other pressing issues to ensure that the quality of life remains high in this county."

A lifelong Murfreesboro resident, with the past 20 years in District 13, Brian has seen the dramatic growth occurring to his hometown. Rogers married his wife Dionne 20 years ago in Cannonsburgh church and has since raised two sons with one starting Blackman High School and one just graduating from BHS in 2018.

The general election for County Commissioner for District 13 is August 2nd.
