GAP. Victoria's Secrets and JC Penny announced they will reduce their number of stores.

Drops in sales during 2018 are blamed for all of these closings. Ironically, sales at some brick and mortar retailers showed an increase, plus--internet sales had dramatic gains.

GAP

Parent Old Navy announced it is spinning off GAP and plans to close 230 stores.

VICTORIA'S SECRETS

Victoria's Secrets reports that sales drops of 7 per cent by outlets that have been open a year or long reportedly is the reason behind the plans to shutter 53 stores. The closures will make-up approximately 4 per cent of the company's 1,143 locations.

JC PENNY

Sales at JC Penny stores that also have been opened at least a year, dropped 4 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2018. That motivated management to close 15 full-service stores this year, along with 9 home and furniture outlets.

A list of closing locations has not yet been announced.
