Thieves passed three fraudulent checks on a bogus Rutherford County Landfill account of more than $350 each at a rural Rutherford County store and two Williamson County stores, said Rutherford County Trustee Teb Batey. The fraudulent checks read, Rutherford County Landfill, 6000 Landfill Road, Murfreesboro, Tenn.,Batey said. The checks appear to be from SunTrust Bank on East Main Street in Murfreesboro. Don't cash it, Batey said. One check was passed at Big Charlie's Market. Stores that cash the fraudulent checks lose the money.

We felt an obligation to let people know this is not a county check, Batey said. They're out the money. Sheriff Robert F. Arnold also urged store owners not to cash the fraudulent checks. Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Mark Di Nardo is investigating. People who have information about the suspect or suspects passing the fraudulent checks are asked to call him at 904-3048.
