DUI number five is what one Yeargan Road man was charged with on Monday evening in Murfreesboro. Harold Ray Bowen was pulled over on South Church Street at Barfield Crescent Road for having expired tags. When police approached the window of Bowen’s Chevy pick-up truck, they noted an obvious odor of an intoxicant.

When police asked Bowen to perform several field sobriety tests he replied, “I can’t even do those when I’m sober.” Bowen was arrested and transferred to the local jail where a mandatory blood test was conducted. Bowen tried to refuse to take the blood test, but because of prior DUI convictions he could not. The 57-year old was also charged with driving on a revoked license.

When you are charged with a fifth DUI in Tennessee it is a class E felony with a minimum jail sentence of 150-days behind bars. The mandatory fine is between $3,000 and $15,000. Your license will also be revoked for 5-years.

Pamela Cawthron, a passenger in Bowen’s truck, allegedly ran from police when they were pulled over. She was caught a short time later hiding in a ditch behind the Barfield Sir Pizza. 51-Year old Cawthron was charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, criminal impersonation and evading arrest. Cawthron was charged with criminal impersonation because police say she gave them an incorrect social security number when they were booking her into the jail.

The two will appear in court on June 14th.
