It's no wonder that businesses were interested, especially since La Vergne's evening population is now over 32-thousand. Plus, the daytime population--is dramatically larger, since there are so many major industrial complexes there.

Broeker said the city is looking for developers who have an interest in creating an acceptable use for the twenty-plus miles of Percy Priest Lake shoreline, bring more retail and the arts into the area.

He noted that crime was down and the city just installed a CODE RED system that phones residents with voice and text messages of impending storms along with natural and man-made disasters.
