American Lung Association starts Initiative to better explain COVID-19 as a Lung Infection

As the country's trusted champion of lung health, the American Lung Association’s top priority is the public’s health and well-being.  As more and more states grapple with how to slowly reopen, the lung association reports an uptick in the spread of misinformation around COVID-19.

COVID-19 is a lung infection, and those with chronic medical conditions are more susceptible to severe symptoms of COVID-19.  The American Lung Association has started a COVID-19 Action Initiative to bring together public and private entities to end COVID-19 and prepare for future respiratory pandemics.

Rutherford County has seen 39 deaths that can be contributed to the coronavirus. 3,944 People have tested positive for COVID-19 out of 30,097 test conducted in Rutherford County.

Across the Volunteer State, there have been 69,061 confirmed COVID cases, as of Wednesday evening (7/15/2020). 783 of those cases were fatal and nearly 40,000 people have already recovered from the coronavirus in Tennessee.
