There were two major thefts reported on New Year’s Eve in Murfreesboro. One of the two thefts occurred at a home near Osborne Lane. In that case, the victim called police after an antique violin was stolen from his bedroom. The victim’s step daughter allegedly admitted to the theft. The 24-year old suspect says that she pawned the musical instrument, but won’t tell her stepfather which pawn shop she visited. The violin was a collector’s item and was over 150-years old.

In the second theft, a homeowner on Thompson lane says that unknown persons broke into his house after using a stepping stone to break open a window. The victim reported that over $10,000 in jewelry was taken. This marks the second home burglary on Thompson Lane within the past two weeks. In the first case, the thief got-away with a $10,000 pearl necklace.
