The Rutherford County Schools has had a small amount of interest in turning the old State Farm building into a school building. The structure is across the street from SportsCom at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and DeJarnette Lane.

Lee said that the location of the building makes it less attractive because it would equal a total of five schools, both public and private, within 1.6 miles of each other.

To further add to the potential zoning issue of turning the old State Farm building into a school, there are three more schools just 2.3 miles away from the address of the structure.

List of Schools within 2.3 Miles:

1. Oakland High School
2. Oakland Middle School
3. John Pittard Elementary School
4. Providence Christian Academy (Private)
5. Siegel High School
6. Siegel Elementary School
7. Erma Siegel Elementary School
