Williams said it is usually a crime of opportunity and criminals are not necessarily looking for a handgun, but when they find one they take it.

Last week in nearby Nashville, 19 of 60 vehicles stolen had guns left inside of them. More alarming, 6 of the vehicles were left unlocked and unattended.
