(MURFREESBORO) This Sunday is MOTHER'S DAY, and family owned businesses throughout Rutherford County have gifts that would please mom.
In the historic downtown district alone, you'll discover unique apparrel stores for women, galleries that feature fine arts, plus delicious goodies for mother's who have a sweet tooth, and even decor items that would make any mom happy.
The celebration of Mother's Day began in Grafton, West Virginia back in 1907. Anna Jarvis held a celebration for her mother at St. Andrew's Methodist Church.
After seven years of public comments, in 1914 President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as a national holiday honoring mothers. Now this special tribute has spread to more than 40 countries.
By the way, the second Sunday in May is here...it's this Sunday, May 9, 2021. Don't forget to let your mother know that she is special!
