In Murfreesboro, the number of those with COVID-19 is high with 3,738 "Active" cases throughout Rutherford County. Included in that number are the 196 new cases reported in the past 24-hours.

Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland recently told WGNS News that he learned from Saint Thomas Rutherford CEO Gordon Ferguson that the hospitalization rate is high, but the percentage of those hospitalized that failed to get the COVID vaccine is higher.



McFarland noted that it is not his job as a mayor to tell residents that they are required to get vaccinated...



Throughout Rutherford County, there have been 56,834 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Across the Volunteer State, there have been 5,089 newly confirmed COVID cases in the past 24 to 48-hours. There have also been 127 deaths reported in the past 24-hours throughout Tennessee.

Over the last 7-days, Rutherford County has averaged 1,116.3 COVID tests per day. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 1,074 Rutherford County residents hospitalized because of COVID-19. However, many have successfully recovered. To date, there have been 52,613 cases that are listed as "inactive" or "recovered" in Rutherford County, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
