TN Coalition for Open Government is looking to recognize local citizens

Feb 18, 2013 at 05:00 am by Bryan Barrett

The Tennessee Coalition for Open Government (TCOG) is looking for Tennessee Sunshine Heroes: citizens who are active in promoting open government issues in our community. It can be anyone from a neighbor who attends all the local city board or county commission meetings or it can be an elected official making sure that local government and records are open to all citizens.

Do you know of someone who matches this description? The TN Coalition is asking for you to nominate them to be recognized.

Just send TCOG the name of your local Sunshine Hero, a picture and/or video, and the reason why he or she deserves to be a Sunshine Hero in a statement that gives plenty of essential details, but no more than 500 words, please.

They will gather together all the local Sunshine Heroes and announce them online on a map of Tennessee and in a story to be released to all news media.

The Sunshine Heroes will be announced on Friday during national Sunshine Week, March 10-16. So get your nominee in as soon as possible, but no later than close of business on Friday, March 8, 2013.
