It’s not quite summer yet and sure doesn’t feel like it, but the sun is on the mind of two local thieves.  WGNS' Zach Troutman has the story...

A worker at The Sunglass Hut in The Avenue called the police after two females grabbed seven pairs of sunglasses and ran.  The two females fled out the front door of the store and the employee who witnessed the theft quickly called the police.

The sunglasses were valued at about $150 each. So far, no one has been caught.  The theft was valued at over $1,000 which would make it a class D felony. In Tennessee, if a person is convicted of a class D felony he or she could be sentenced for 2 to 15-years behind bars, but in most cases, probation is the norm.

In other shoplifting news, one person was arrested after allegedly stealing over $1,300 worth of clothing from Walmart. The theft occurred at the store on South Rutherford Blvd. A Murfreesboro Police Incident Report shows that suspect John Sanders filled up a buggy and tried walking out of the store. Needless to say, he was caught and charged accordingly.
