Murfreesboro business owner suspects employee of stealing over $10,000

Feb 21, 2013 at 05:00 am by Bryan Barrett

A local business owner has notified the police because he believes an employee has been stealing money from his company in recent months. WGNS is not releasing the name of the business because an investigation into the theft is underway and it would appear that an arrest has not been made at this point. The suspect is a LaVergne resident who is 36-years old age.

The business, that is on Middle Tennessee Boulevard, has seen a sizeable loss in revenue. The owner of the company in question told officers that he believes one of his workers has been faking credit card invoices and stealing cash. Upwards of $10,000 or more may have been stolen.

The suspected employee has been suspended and an arrest could be made in the near future.

According to Tennessee law, the theft of $10k to $60,000 is a class C felony. If a person is convicted of a class C felony, he or she could be sentenced between 3 and 15-years in prison.
