Fire Re-Ignited

The home that caught fire Thursday afternoon at 1715 Saxony Court re-ignited overnight. Units from Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue (MF&R) returned to the scene, while police again closed the street to traffic.

There was a rekindle. The call came into 911 at 3:14 Friday morning. District 7, Ladder 6, and Engine 1 responded. Firefighters first on the scene Friday morning report that there were smoke and flames showing. Officials report that it took 15 to 20 minutes to extinguish the second blaze.

MF&R Public Information Officer Ashley McDonald told WGNS News, "The rekindle was limited to the roof. The roof already had damage beyond repair from the initial fire. The Fire Marshal’s Office completed the preliminary investigation Thursday night, but were scheduled to return to the address Friday morning to process the scene."

WGNS News will give you their findings as soon as they are available.

McDonald that it might take a little time for the results to be completed. "It may be a few weeks as it takes some time to make a determination. I’m sure they have to send samples off."

The home Thursday evening (3/14/2013), just before dark, as firefighters were packing-up (3/14/2013). Firefighters were on the scene into the evening hours. However, something caused the structure to rekindle early Friday morning. MF&R received another call at 3:14AM Friday that the roof was on fire, and units were on-the-scene within minutes.

ORIGINAL STORY

The home was ablaze hours earlier, and was fully egulfed in flames when firefighters arrived around 4:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The fire on Thursday was so intense that smoke and flames could be seen for miles.  CLICK HERE for photos and the story about the initial fire.
