(NASHVILLE) The first half of Tennessee's 113th General Assembly is wrapping-up as members of the Rutherford County delegation put finishing touches on legislation.

Sen. Shane Reeves said, "After a challenging couple of weeks, we are finally finishing up business in Nashville, with the closing of committees and the presentation of the Governor's amended budget.  I am thankful for TEMA and for their response is Readyville, which was hit by the tornado.

Reeves continued, "I was proud to pass legislation on the floor to enhance our state's financial literacy. SB 668 will instruct our Financial Literacy Commission to study solutions to provide more programs in our schools. I was also able to pass SB 858 which continues the work of our Certificate of Need working group we formed in the summer of 2019. This legislation will continue to make this process more efficient and will help to ensure better access to healthcare, especially in our rural communities."

The District 14 Republican representing Rutherford, Cannon, Bedford and Moore counties concluded, "The Tennessee General Assembly was able to take time out of our busy schedules to honor and celebrate our agricultural community during TN Ag Day on the Hill. We had dozens of vendors join us in Nashville. It was an honor to have and to meet our newest TWH 4 Year-Old World Grand Champion, Mr. True Blue. And while we may not have won this year, it was good to represent the Senate in this year's Corn Shelling Contest."

WGNS has invited the Rutherford County delegation to join us on the radio from 8:10-9:00AM on Friday morning, April 28, 2023, to share the accomplishments of the General Assembly.
