At 11:30am Saturday morning, about 9,500 Middle Tennessee Electric customers reportedly experienced a power outage.  The outage lasted for about an hour, during which time WGNS and the Murfreesboro Electric Department received numberous calls and questions regarding the outage.  The cause of the outage was determined to be an unspecified failure within a Murfreesboro substation, and crews were dispatched immediately to make repairs.  At this time power has been restored, and an investigation of what caused the failure is underway. MTEMC is expected to release the results next week. As soon as that is available, it will be on WGNS.
