For those of you who believe there are just not enough positive stories in the news these days, we believe this may qualify… WGNS has learned that the Tennis Team at the Middle Tennessee Christian School has been volunteering their time to help younger children tackle homework at the Family Learning and Resource Center in Franklin Heights. The Tennis Team went to the center once per week for a six week period to help the children with not only their homework, but tutoring as well.

During a recent Family Learning and Resource Center coalition meeting, it was also announced that for Valentine’s Day – the children from the Homework and Tutoring group created and delivered “Love” boxes to the elderly residents of Franklin Heights.  During the meeting it was suggested that the children had a great time delivering the boxes and the residents smiles were priceless knowing that the children remembered them and did something just for them on this special day.

The center located in the area of January Street and Bridge Avenue,  provides after school homework help and a computer lab to assist children in being prepared to learn in the classroom. The Center also offers courses on financial literacy, GED classes, parenting support groups and workshops, healthy cooking and other resources.
