50 Miles per hour to enter an apartment complex could prove to be a little excessive when the case goes before a judge in a Rutherford County Courtroom. On Sunday afternoon, a man told police that he wrecked pulling into the upscale Integra Creek Apartments on Manson Pike while cruising into the parking at 50-miles per hour.

Why 50-you ask? A police report filed on Sunday says, “He was going 50 mph into the parking lot, trying to beat the gate before it closed.” Once beyond the closing gate he hit his brakes and slammed into a light pole causing about $3,000 in damages.

The good news, no one was injured. The bad news… the apartment complex is brand new and so was the now broken light fixture. Police measured the skid marks and say they started about 10-feet before the gate and continued about 40-feet forward.

The suspect was cited for a registration violation and reckless driving.
