A 57 year old man found slumped over the steering wheel of his car at a Northfield Boulevard intersection was arrested by Murfreesboro Police on Tuesday. Police say when they arrived at the scene they had to knock on the window to wake the driver. When the driver looked at the officer, he slowly let his foot off the brake and the 2003 Buick SUV began to roll into the middle of the intersection. After the officer shouted at the driver to put his foot back on the brake and turn off the SUV, the vehicle stopped.

The arresting officer wrote in a report, “I also observed a juvenile in the second seat in a car seat.” Police say Jeffery L. Hudson told them he had consumed “a couple of beers.” The actual report on file at the police department showed that Hudson didn’t even acknowledge that there was a child in the vehicle with him. Upon further questioning, the man then proceeded to throw-up. The report shows, “Mr. Hudson was extremely unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and an odor of intoxicant on his person.”

Hudson was placed in cuffs and charged with DUI. Because a child was in the vehicle with the suspect, he was also charged with reckless endangerment. As of Wednesday night, Hudson has yet to make bond. He will appear in court on June 20, 2013.
