The Murfreesboro City Council found out at their April 4th meeting that the Gateway Island and Pond continue to present problems, as workers had to once again be dispatched to the location to repair leaks. The Golf Commission approved a contract to build a new six-hole, par 3 short course, the City Court Clerk recommended demolition and replacement of the front counter in the Judicial Department, and the Solid Waste Director took bids to purchase four new trucks. Two public hearings were held to zone and annex land along Memorial Boulevard, north of W. Thompson Lane, and another to amend 18 acres along Swanholme Drive, and part of City Hall will soon undergo some light re-roofing. Final passage of the Greenways, Blueways and Bikeways Master Plan was deferred until the absent two council members could be present to vote on the matter, and the Mayor gave all the fitness enthusiasts a reminder about the kickoff of the Mayor's Walks this weekend, 8am Saturday.
