Chickens cause major traffic jam on S. Church St. - Followed by more calls of more accidents

S. Church St. Chicken Mishap (above)

The two north bound lanes of South Church Street had to be temporarily shut down on Friday afternoon as crews worked to clean chicken remains that were spilled on the roadway. A truck hauling chicken lost part of its load. This is the second time that such an incident has occurred.  Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue, Murfreesboro Police and a cleanup contractor responded to the scene. 

Thompson Lane @ Sulphur Springs (below)

About an hour after the chicken mishap, a car ran into the retaining wall of a bridge while traveling down State Route 840. About thirty minutes after that, two cars collided on Thompson Lane at Sulphur Springs Road. The picture below shows the crash prone intersection of Thompson Lane at Sulphur Springs. The Friday afternoon crash, around 3:00PM, was one of many that have occured at this intersection. City Councilman Doug Young went on record at Thursday night's meeting to support locating a traffic signal at this busy intersection.

W. Clark at Memorial Blvd.

Later in the afternoon on Friday police responded to a wreck on West Clark Blvd. at Memorial Blvd. There, a motorcycle and a vehicle collided at 4 in the afternoon. Paramedics responded to the scene of the wreck and quickly informed dispatch that
