Rutherford County, TN - Are you one of Rutherford County's "FIRST FAMILIES"? Many are members of this prestigious group and do not realize it.
The Historical Research Center's Supervisor Kayla Howard told members of the Rutherford County Historical Society that their staff will show the public how to gather the qualifying information.
Howard commented...
That's correct, you don't have to stay with the same direct family lineage to qualify. For example, follow the male lineage down and then if jumping to the female's side through marriage, her family could qualify you to be a Rutherford County First Family.
Howard explained that the "FIRST FAMILIES PROGRAM" is a free genealogy service of the Rutherford County Library System that commemorates our Rutherford County ancestors. It also helps to ensure that your family history lives on.
There is no fee for this service and the Historical Research Center is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:00AM - 4:00PM. They are closed on Saturday, Sundays and Mondays. Their phone number is 615-947-9110 and the Center is located at 435 Rice Street.
