Five backpacks containing ski masks, latex gloves and three hammers along with a multi tool were collected and placed into evidence after a car crash in Murfreesboro. The crash occurred on Rutherford Boulevard around 2:15 Monday morning (1/29/18).

When police arrived, they noted that four suspects fled the scene on foot. Two of the four were apprehended. Those caught were a juvenile and an 18-year-old named Ezekiel Mathis from Antioch, TN.

Before looking into the wrecked vehicle, authorities ran the tag and VIN number which came back as stolen, according to the National Crime and Information Center database. Police say that both the juvenile and Mathis refused to talk to police and were taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Inside the car a total of five backpacks were located that contained ski masks, latex gloves, hammers and a multi tool device. Officers also found a bandanna and an Apple iPhone. Notebooks found in the backpacks belonged to a possible student at Antioch High School.

Mathis was charged with theft over $10,000, resisting the stop / hault and frisk and evading arrest.
