State Representative Mike Sparks (R-Smyrna) joined with LaVergne Mayor, Dennis Waldron, LaVergne Aldermen Calvin Jones and Melissa Brown, as well as Smyrna Councilman Tim Morrell to honor local Tim Tomlin, a local business owner of Tomlin Automotive Group, who passed away last December.

Tomlin was 54 at the time of his death.

"Tim and I found a quote by Shannon L. Alder that we really liked that was shared at his funeral," said Nicole Tomlin. "'Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.'".

Mr. Tomlin was a lifelong citizen of Rutherford County. According to LaVergne Mayor Waldron, "Tim was longtime friend of mine and was a highly regarded business man. He touched a lot of lives during a short time. I am so glad a bridge was dedication in his honor so that people will remember him for a long time to come. Each person who came in contact with Tim had an impression made on them because of his kindness and generosity."

Added Representative Sparks, "I've known Tim Tomlin since I was about 8 years of age and he always had a positive attitude and willingness to help and encourage others. His passing was a huge loss to the communities of Smyrna and LaVergne. He will be sadly missed. I wish to thank Senator Bill Ketron, and Representative Dawn White, LaVergne Mayor Dennis Waldron and Aldermen Melisa Brown and Calvin Jones for their assistance and support in honoring Tim."
